Why you should know these
Important Tips
PLANNING YOUR MOVE
• If you are not certain about what you need to bring or haven’t decided on the date of your move, but you know that you will need to move soon, contact us and our team will help you and provide all the support required to plan your move. You can use our checklist to help plan your move by months or weeks leading up to the days before your move.
- Will you need help with your kids or pets on the day of your move? Can you count on a friend or relative to help you? Try to get this help ahead of time.
- Contact the utility companies (water, power, phone), postal services and banks, those that need to know about your move, at least 2 weeks in advance.
HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR MOVE
• Clean and organize the storage areas of your home, such as closets, attic, basement, and garage, as soon as you decide to move. That way, you can select what you are going to take with you and what you are going to donate or recycle.
- When you decide what stays and what will be donated, sold or simply discarded, organize the items by category or rooms. Separate all bedding, bath items and clothes; and organize them.
- Moving is a wonderful opportunity to recycle many things. Don’t keep items that you don’t need, or that you haven’t used for over a year.
- Garage sales are a great opportunity to let go of some items and make money, so you can save for your move.
Confiança does not transport food, remember to plan ahead so you don’t have too much food in your freezer or pantry. If you have non-perishable food items at the time of the move, Confiança can donate them to Move for Hunger.
- If you live in an apartment building, make a reservation for the elevators and request authorization from the administration, to avoid any surprises for our crew on moving day.
ON MOVING DAY
• If you are leaving a rental home, take some pictures when it’s empty to avoid any surprises or extra payments for damages that you did you not cause.
- Do I need to tip the team? This is not a must, but it is customary to offer a tip.
Ask our staff to place each box with your belongings in their respective rooms, to facilitate unpacking.

Questions
Before you move
Avoid having an unpleasant experience. These questions can help you make sure the company you are hiring is going to treat you and your home with respect. Remember, your move begins with choosing a respected, trustworthy mover.
During the home survey visit or by phone, discussing these key points will avoid surprises with your quote and guarantee the success of your move. You should look for a company that understands and meets your needs, making you and your family completely comfortable, especially considering there are many bad companies that do not deliver what they promise, or charge extra fees after they are in possession of your goods.
QUESTIONS ABOUT COSTS
- Are the costs of insurance, furniture protection, boxes, and tapes already included in my quote?
- Is my quote calculated with open hour or flat rate? The open hour rate is an estimate calculated by the hour, recommended only for small moves. The flat rate is provided after a survey of your home, and the company provides the final price, with no surprises at the end.
- Is insurance for my belongings included in the price? What kind of insurance?
- What are the payment conditions? (Be careful with companies that only take cash payments.)
- What types of changes would increase the cost of my move? If we change the scheduled date, will it increase the cost of our move?
QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR MOVE
- Are there any items that cannot be taken in the move?
- Do I need to pack my belongings or will the movers do this for me?
- How many professionals will be at my home on moving day?
- What happens if something is broken or lost during the move?
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MOVING COMPANY
- Who will be my contact on moving day?
- Are your professionals trained? Do they go through background checks?
- Does your company hold an AMSA Promover license?
- Do you have references from previous customers?
- How are you different from other moving companies? Why should I choose your company for my move?
Asking the right questions gives you the confidence you need to choose a great company for your move. If you’re looking for an extraordinary company, Confiança is the right choice for you. Call us today (866) 266-8464 or request your quote online. We will be happy to serve you and answer all your questions.
After selecting a few companies and requesting a quote, the next step is to schedule a visit to survey your home. Confiança will send a specialized professional to assess all the specific needs for your move.
WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT ON THE DAY OF THE SURVEY?
During the survey, our representative will visit your home and conduct, with you, a brief inventory of all the things that you will take on your move and everything that you will not take. At this moment you may feel free to clarify any doubts with our representative, about the planning, estimated cost, or any question you might have.
WHY IS THE SURVEY IMPORTANT? DOES IT BENEFIT ME?
The survey is important because that is how we estimate how many people we should send for the move, how many vehicles, the kind of equipment necessary to move specific furniture, how long it will take, whether your belongings require special packaging like a wooden box. The best way to know this is by visiting your home and checking every detail that may affect our planning.
The survey benefits you as well, as it is an opportunity to meet Confiança’s professionals, and it’s the best way to provide you with the correct quote and avoid surprises.
